Green Witch Tarot: Cover and Page of Athame

Disclaimer for new readers: Welcome! I am in the process of illustrating a full tarot deck for Llewellyn Worldwide, the artwork has been shared here with permission from the editor. There is no release date yet for the deck, but it should be some time in 2015. It will be a full 78 card deck with no borders. The author behind the project is Ann Moura, who is widely known for her Green Witch books.

Green Witch Tarot: Page of Athames

New cards revealed!
I recently sent out my monthly newsletter where I revealed two new card illustrations for the Green Witch Tarot. One of them is my favourite card illustrations for the deck so far; the Page of Athame. I’m not sure why I am particularly fond of this card, but something about it just really spoke to me and I immensely enjoyed working on it.

I should mention that if you’re interested in being among the first to see new tarot cards revealed you can sign up for my newsletter on the left of this page. Just put your email into the box and hit ‘Sign me up!’

The Symbolism
Traditionally the Page of Athame symbolizes an abundance of energy, passion and enthusiasm. It’s a card that speaks of new promising beginnings, but something else is needed in order to maintain the pace. In the Green Witch Tarot some of the symbolism speaks of Moon Magic and intuition.

This card is the 46th illustration out of 79 that I have finished for the deck. Through October I will cross the 50th mark which will be a major milestone. I’m beginning to get really excited for seeing the deck in print.

The Cover
By now Llewellyn Worldwide has also set the name in stone, and the deck will be named The Green Witch Tarot. They have also picked the illustration to go on the cover of the deck, it is the illustration for the Temperance Card which in this deck is named ‘The Sidhe’.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed this look at the new tarot art. As always I’d love to hear from you, so please leave a comment if you’re excited about the deck, also I would also like to encourage you to share it with your friends.
