In 2013 Jon Schindehette (Creative Director of Tree House Brand Stores, previously Art Director of Wizards of the Coast) launched the ultimate Art Order challenge called Inspiration. Illustrators were given the objective to make a piece based on what inspired them.
What inspires you? Is it a master from ages past? Is it a contemporary peer that handles a brush in an almost spiritual manner? Maybe it is a full moon on a cloudy night, or an experience that fulfills a childhood fantasy?
The project has now come to fruition in the form of a 8″ x 8″ limited-edition, beautiful art book, filled with 132 pages of illustrations by more than 30 international artists. The original challenge was juried by the following group of people, who have had great impact on the Imaginative Realism/Fantasy/Sci-Fi Illustration Industry.
Irene Gallo – Associate Publisher, Tor.Com
