Personal Work: Year of the Unicorn in Progress

Once upon a Time

When I was a child I was obsessed with unicorns.

At the age of 6 I remember sitting through a 3 hour long circus TV show that I had very little interest in, only because the circus had advertised they had a unicorn.  I was anxiously sitting on my hands, waiting for them to confirm my deep seated belief that unicorns were real when, during the last 2 minutes of the show, they finally revealed it.

It was a goat.

A goat they had sawed one horn off. Horribly disappointed  I stomped away from the TV. I knew well in my 6 year old heart, that real unicorns were out there and this was most certainly not one of them.

The Project

My childhood love of unicorns still exist till this day, though the unicorns have grown more curious with quirks and delightfully twisted horns. So for this year I am working on a calendar of odd and wondrous unicorns – to share with you all. As of now I have four pieces completed with more to come.

2017 will be The Year of the Unicorn. I hope you will enjoy this venture into a magical realm of childhood memories and see what stories the unicorns have to tell.
