Personal work: Watercolor Mermaid Illustrations

Maiden of the Sea © Kiri Østergaard Leonard, 2013

I’m currently practicing watercolors to have some traditional pieces to bring to IlluxCon in September. It’s a challenge as I’m so used to working digitally however I’ve really been enjoying the change of pace. I do still have a lot to learn about the medium, but I’ve been happy with the results so far nonetheless.

The originals measure 12″x16″ and are painting on Arches Hot Press watercolor paper with Reeves watercolors and gesso for highlights. I am also happy to announce that two of them have been sold to private collections.
