It’s been two years since I wrote a proper New Year letter [Read here]. Much happens in two years, I find that as I grow older time seems shorter year when looking back at a single year so much happens. 2014 has been a year full of tarot card illustrations, it’s been challenging, at times frustrating but also fun; and it has without a doubt helped me grow as an artist.
It can be difficult to see in the moment, but every little piece an artist makes tends to help them grow in some way. It can be a small and unnoticeable way but it is there, and the small lessons build up over time. That’s important to remember in life. Maybe we cannot make big changes but we can strive to make small changes, and if we just make one small change a day or even a week it builds upon itself to larger changes over the course of a year.
I think the most valuable lesson I’ve learned since I began working as an illustrator is persistence is key. You may not be where you want to be right now, but with little consistent effort you can get there, just stick to it.
I wish you a very happy New Year, may 2015 be an absolutely outstanding year for you. May it bring you many positive experiences, challenges and help grow your soul.
See you in 2015!
