A New Project: 78 Tarot – Carnival

78 Tarot is a collaborative art project that brings together a group of 78 artists from around the world every year to produce an original tarot deck. Our goal is to merge the creative energy of each group to produce a tarot deck that is functional and diversely aesthetic, valued equally by the art community and the tarot community.

This one is for the tarot fans! I’m stoked to share with you that last year I was invited to join the 78 Tarot project and we are in the full process of putting together the 78 Tarot Carnival Deck.

It will be a 78 card deck with borders, each card illustrated by a different artist. The project is spearheaded by Kayti Welsh and Delphine Griffin; two spunky women who have previously released two other beautiful decks under the 78 tarot brand. The most recent release is named 78 Tarot Nautical and you can view it here.

I will be illustrating the Page of Swords card and while the artists involved cannot show you any finals yet we are allowed to show you some teasers so I have compiled a few images of some of my favorites for you. You can also find further teaser images of the development of the deck here: 78 Tarot Carnival – Work in Progress

If you are interested in knowing more about this project, you can follow the project on their Facebook page and in their Facebook group, where they are also hosting monthly auctions with thematic art created by all the artists involved.
