From Scandinavia to USA

With a flair for the quirky and whimsy, Kiri’s artwork reflects an interest in nature, childhood, fairy tales, as well as an inherent fondness of Nordic myth and folklore. She enjoys working on projects that range from children’s illustration to fantasy art.

Kiri Østergaard Leonard grew up in the small village of Boeslum in Denmark, Scandinavia, surrounded by beautiful nature and a wide variety of farmstead animals. While still living in Denmark she attended The Academy of Fine Arts in Aarhus, before leaving her home country behind to continue her studies at the Pratt Institute in New York City. She now resides in Austin, Texas with her husband Alexander Leonard, where she thrives as a full-time illustrator.

Kiri is also passionate about photography and animal welfare. She currently shares her quarters with three rescue felines (Minnie, Mishu & Minion) and two rescue guinea pigs named Coffee & Popchop.
