Art Book: Women of Wonder

Attention fellow book lovers, there’s a new art book in town and it’s beautiful!

Introducing Women of Wonder: Celebrating Women Creators of Fantastic Art is a newly released art book by Cathy Fenner, whom you might know from the highly regarded Spectrum Fantastic Art annuals. The book also features a thought-provoking introduction by the kick ass Orbit Creative Director Lauren Panepinto.

In recent years there have been an increasing effort on bringing attention to female artists within the industry. It’s something I’m very excited about and support being in that court myself, so when I saw Lauren Panepinto’s Muddy Colors interview with Cathy Fenner about this book, I just had to check it out.

It’s a 128 pages, 9″ x 12″ softcover book with a beautiful layout which features a wide assembly of wonderful illustrators and artists. It has an attractive layout with a photo of each artist, a write up about them and a single full page illustration.

For those of you know avidly collect the Spectrum annuals, which were until recently published by Cathy and Arnie Fenner, the Women of Wonder book would certainly be a great addition to your art book shelf.

For artists who aspire to make a name for themselves in the industry it’s also a great research tool. It really gives you a glimpse into what’s out making a splash in the industry at current all while celebrating these amazing artists.

I really like the book and highly recommend it, I only wish that it had featured a few more pieces of each artist to give a better overall look of their work, as it’s hard to sum an artist up in a single piece.

The book is available from both Barnes and Noble as well as Amazon.com
