Art vs. Artist

#ArtVsArtist is a new fantastic art meme that has taken the internet with storm.

The concept is simple: A grid of 9 images, in the center and photo of the artist surrounded by his/her artwork. Some chose to focus it on faces, musing that it is interesting how some artists paint faces that take on their own features. What do you think?

I wanted to share with you some of the artists who stood out to me. Please click their images to be taken to their websites and see more of their beautiful work!

My favourite picture so far is the one showing the Witch being Burned at the Stake! You have given your picture a sense of realism unlike a lot of others I have viewed previously. The young woman actually appears to be burning and you can see that her dress and hair are aflame but it is the way in which you have captured this scene which to my mind makes it very beautiful as opposed to something to look upon with distaste! She hasn’t got the sometimes all too apparent scream or even fear on her face – it’s almost as though she has taken on a more complacent resolve and has resigned herself to her Fate!
